Tools for Teaching Strategies

This site designed by Carl Anderson who is an expert on all types of confrencing. It is used to help teachers teach their studetns to become better writiers. These confrences will enhance your current writing curriculum and help you to confer with your students with greater purpose and claritiy.
I liked this site and used it alot when I was looking for better ways to confrence with my students. It is hard to navigate. I rate it 3 out of 5.

2. Using Poetry to Teach Reading

This site helps you to chose which poems are appropriate for your age level. It gives you some printer friendly versions as well as management tools. It gives you some questions to start off with and extra pointers throughout the year.
I found this site to be a good point to start but not helpful for everything.
I rate this site a 3 ou of 5.

3. Character Book Day

This is more of an article of what character day is all about and how it can be used inthe classroom. It also explains that this is not just for the younger grades but that the older grades really get a kick out of dressing up like there favorite characters. costumes can be very minimal, they idea is to be creative as possible and to expect lots of laughs.

This is a great resource that tells all about readers theater. It gives you a rational with some really great answers. It tells you why you should use readers theater in your classroom and also gives a few examples. It gives you other activities to use and explains how to get started.

5. KWL Chart

This site is simply a printer friendly version of the KWL chart. When you are in a jam for a quick KWL chart this site provides you with one. This site also has the KWHL which stands for what I already Know, what I Want to know, How I will find it and what I learned.

6. The power of readers theater

This site gives so wonderful stories of teachers that have used readers theater in the past and the success that theyhave had with it. It also describes how to get started and how important practicing the script is. readers theaters are very fun but you do have to be very organized as well. This site is more for your entertaiment rather than learning about readers theater.
I rate this 4 out of 5 because the stories are nice.

7. Teaching tips for lit circles

This site gives lots of ideas on how to use lit circles in your classroom. it gives examples of lessons that you can use and lists other websites so that if you had further questions it shows you where you could go to help find some answers.

This website explains everything you need to know about teaching strategies. this would be a great tool to utilize at the begining of the year because it helps to plan out your literacy agenda for the year

This site gives an assortment of different sites that could be helpful when planning a successful curriculum. It provides graphic organizers, themes, and lesson plans. This site also provides information for students with special needs which there is a growing number of students with special needs in our classrooms
